ORIGINS. It’s a monoteist religion, born in the Middle East and Northern Africa region. It’s a religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, who is believed to be the son of God. Their main belief is that Jesus is the son of God, who is the savior of humanity and the Messiah God had promised to his kingdom.

The three largest branches of Christianity are the Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox and Protestantism. The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ in the first century and it’s the largest Christian Church (12 billion members) The orthodox Church was a part of the Roman Catholic Church until 1054, they separated because of cultural differences but their beliefs are the same The Protestant Church was founded in 1600 by Martin Luther after the reformation of the Church.

TEACHINGS Christian faith is based on the Holy Bible and its teachings. There are a lot of theological studies in which the religion is based and they usually change according to the branch of Christianity.

TEACHINGS Christians believe in the 10 commandants, which include: 1. Believe in God over everything. 2. Do not use the name of God in vain 3. Remember to keep holy the Lord´s Day 4. Honor your father and mother 5. Not kill 6. Not commit adultery 7. Not steal 8. Not lie 9. Not covet your neighbor’s wife 10. Not covet your neighbor’s goods

TEACHINGS Their main beliefs include the belief of the Holy Trinity; the death, resurrection and ascention of Jesus; the holiness of the church and Christ’s second coming, the day of Judgment and Slavation

WHO ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT FIGURES IN THE RELIGION? For Catholics, the most important figures are the Holy Trinity, the Pope, the Virgin and the Saints. For the Orthodox, the main figures are the three persons of the Holy Trinity and the Virgin. For Protestants the most important figures are the Bible and the Holy Trinity.

PLACES OF WORSHIP Catholic’s places of worship are the common churches we know, the most important one is in The Vatican City, St. Peter’s Basilic. For protestants, one of the most important worship places is the Memorial Church in Speyer, Germany. For Eastern orthodox, one of the most important churches is the Cathedral of Saint Sava, in Serbia.

SYMBOLISM The most important symbols in the Christian religion, are the crucifix, which represents the sacrifice and death of Jesus Christ; the dove, which represents the Holy Spirit; the Bible, which includes the sacred scriptures and the ichthys fish which means that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Saviour.
