3. Hurricanes in the Northeast In 1954 Hurricane Edna started south around Haiti then it started going North. 4. Floods in the Northeast In 1982 there was a flood in Connecticut. It happened through 4 days, the weekend of June 4-7. A large low pressure system moved up from the Gulf Coast slowly. Up to 16 inches fell mostly in the south central part of Connecticut. Over half of the rain fall was accounted on Saturday when about 10 inches fell. The flood resulted in at least eleven lives.
