LO: To understand who Charles Dickens was and why he wrote Oliver Twist. Deep thinking question Why were Charles Dickens’ novels important during the 19 th Century? Imagine if… Your parent s had been put in jail because they couldn’t pay their bills. You were taken out of school and had to work in a factory at the age of nine making shoe polish. You weren’t allowed to go back to school until you were 13. How might you feel if this had happened to you? Write two sentences about how you might feel if you were in this situation. Challenge: How would you react? What might this make you do?
