3 Creative tie-breaking Traditional tie-breaking for each sport--see text Creative tie-breaking or time shortening tricks – Badminton Start the games at 5-5. – Baseball – Basketball Free-throw shooting contest. – Football Kick field goals – Ice Hockey Penalty shots

4 Lacrosse Rugby – Free kicks Soccer – Most corner kicks wins Volleyball – Start with both teams at 10-10

5 Tie breaking procedure Considering only the record of tied entries, that entry will be ranked highest which: –has defeated the other(s); –has the best won/lost ratio of matches; –has the best won/lost ratio of games (in sports such as badminton or volleyball); –has the best goals (points) for/against ratio. Considering only the record of tied entries with the entries below or above, the highest rank will be given to that entry which: –defeated the entry below or above if the other(s) did not; –has the best won/lost ratio of games against the entry below or above; –has the best goals (points) for/against ratio with the entry below or above compared to the other tied entries.
