1. “We want students to develop a good sense of appropriate dress and we expect them all to wear school uniform at Cottenham” School Uniform Items of everyday school wear Grey or black plain formal style trousers (not jeans or ‘skinny’ style) Grey or black plain, knee length skirt (not lycra/stretchy material) White college polo shirt * Black college sweatshirt * Plain black flat shoes, no ankle boots (no trainers) *Polo shirts and sweatshirts should have the school logo and must be purchased from the college. Outdoor coats should be stored in lockers or bags during and between lessons. Fashion items such as over-sized belts are not permitted. Jewellery and makeup should be discreet. If you are not sure, please don’t buy it. In cases of need, a grant may be available for uniform. Application forms can be obtained from The Area Education Officer, Castle Court, Shire Hall, Cambridge, CB3 0AP, or ask Mrs Pullen in the student services office.

2. Polo-shirt & Jumper On a hot day you may choose not to wear your sweatshirt but, unless the weather is very warm, you are expected to have your sweatshirt with you at all times. Your polo shirt should always have the collar showing. If a coat is required it should be waterproof and able to keep you warm. Sweatshirt, hoodies and other forms of additional layers are not acceptable substitutes. This guidance applies to all students.

3. Trousers Plain black or dark grey and formal in style. Leggings, jeans, ‘skinny’ trousers are informal styles of trousers and are NOT APPROPRIATE OR ALLOWED. What makes a jean a jean? 4/5 pockets A denim type of material Studs on the pockets Brand labels on the waistband

4. Skirts Tight short skirts are not acceptable. Girls may choose to wear a near knee length plain black formal skirt.

5. Shoes Students should wear plain black shoes.

6. Hair, jewellery, make-up & piercing Please keep jewellery, hair and make-up discreet and appropriate for a work environment.
