Homework Each member of your group must write or type 5 reflective statements about your experiment. This may include: What problems did the group fail to anticipate? What sources of error or inconsistency might have made your results less accurate? Did anything interesting that you didn’t expect (good or bad)? If you could redo your experiment what would you differently?
3
Lab Report Please look over the template for the final Lab Report. This is how your Google Doc should look by Tuesday (10/22) at the start of class. Please make the report all the same color, size, and font so it is easy to read.
4
This is where you are making observations about your data. What facts can you draw from your results? Analysis
5
Don’t forget… Analysis = Observations about your data! Conclusion = Inferences about those observations!
6
What is a conclusion? The conclusion is the answer to your question/problem. It should be clear, concise, and should stick to the point. Overall, you want your conclusion to answer the following questions…
7
Writing a Conclusion What was your hypothesis? Restate it. Did the results support your hypothesis? Indicate the observations you made that brought you to that conclusion. If you were to repeat the experiment, what would you do differently to receive more accurate data? What further experiments can be done related to this question/problem?
8
Things to Remember You can either reject the hypothesis, or you can NOT reject the hypothesis – you cannot PROVE the hypothesis! An experiment is NOT a failure if the results don’t support your hypothesis.
9
Analysis and Conclusion
10
Stations You will have 2-3 minutes at each station to answer the analysis and conclusion questions related to the graph at the station. Remember that analysis is more like an observation and conclusion is more like an inference.
