4 FAQ’s Q: The CCP credit hour formula is 30 – (#HS only courses x3) = # ch eligible A: True! 30 hours per year, 120 max Q: When awarding HS credit for CCP courses, one three credit hour or more college course equals one HS unit. A: True! Includes any separate labs for the course. Q: When awarding HS credit for CCP courses, you must match the HS and college curriculum. A: False! It is content area, not curriculum specific.

5 FAQ’s Q: When awarding HS credit for CCP courses, if courses are weighted on the HS side, then the CCP course is also weighted (and vice versa). A: True! You cannot disadvantage a student because they choose one or the other. Q: Admission to the CCP program is the same as course placement. A: False! Some courses require certain scores on the ACT/SAT or YSU-administered placement tests. State of Ohio College Readiness Benchmarks: ACT: E18, R21, M22; SAT W430, R450, M520

6 FAQ’s Q: YSU sends non-CCP students enrolled in CCP HS based courses notification regarding the course. A: False! It is up to the school to provide notice. Q: The school can charge a student for tuition and textbooks if he/she withdraws late, or fails a course, unless he/she is economically disadvantage. A: True! Consider having parents/students sign that they received the policy.

8 Summer Rules REMINDERS! Rules are not final until January/February Public hearings are scheduled for late December Rules (3333-1-65) do not restate the law (ORC 3365)

9 Summer Rules 3333-1-65.1: Notice to Students March 1 is changed to February 1 April 1 Letter of Intent remains, but students encouraged to submit beginning February 1 Include information on summer term Student transfers: responsibility falls on student to notify college, new and old school Annual Information Sessions: October 15 – January 15 College/University includes course registration deadlines for each term

10 Summer Rules 3333-1-65.11: Summer Eligibility Students who are failing either a HS or college course are not eligible for summer Graduating seniors are ineligible Non-public students can enroll in summer provided they met eligibility for CCP previously (verifying with state) Summer courses are added to the HS transcript for the upcoming school year (ex: Summer 16 courses listed under 16-17year)

11 Summer Rules 3333-1-65.2 Program Requirement’s for Secondary Schools Upon receipt/review of all pre-term statements, if student exceeds 30 hour limit, school notifies student Provides two options: Comply with 30 Self pay (course is not split for payment) Summer leads the school year Prior to students registering for courses, school notifies student of # eligible hours for year Apply same standards for extracurricular/enrichment activity participation to all students

12 Summer Rules 3333-1-65.6/.7: Funding/Payment Tuition follows the funding agreement between the college and the secondary school the student is enrolled in for fall, not spring Payment request is submitted with fall

13 Summer Rules 3333-1-65.8: Non-public Funding Allocation unit is now defined as “no more than four credit hours” Awarding of funds no longer follows grade level All students awarded one allocation unit and continues until funding runs out If not enough to cover an entire grade, lottery determines who receives additional funding 3333-1-65.9: JVSD Allocation Deleted confusing payment language

15 Student Application NEW! One application per student! Current and former students do NOT reapply; will complete an online form, which includes selecting HS based courses Deadlines: Summer (includes fall/spring) due April 1 Fall/Spring: May 1 Last ACT accepted for Summer – February Fall/Spring – April Students should be encouraged now to sign up for a national exam; YSU residual is no longer offered!

16 Student Application 16-17 Coordinator Application Checklist Dates reflect current rules, not proposed Step Four: Pre-Qualify Students NEW! Submit CCP Student Application List to YSU two weeks prior to your scheduled Application Day Students complete placement testing earlier OR School can submit COMPASS scores completed at another college/university

17 Student Application Step Five: Schedule YSU Application Day NEW! One session for NEW, one for CURRENT/FORMER Step Six: Supporting Documentation NEW! Transcripts for NEW students only Will notify for any current/former students needed All students complete the Financial Responsibility/Parent Consent Internet Policy and FERPA added If on campus, the Campus Education Plan NEW! Course listed added to form NEW! No Instructor Recommendation Forms!

18 Student Application Step Six (cont.) NEW! Give supporting documentation to YSU at Application Day YSU sends roster of students, courses selected, and additional information needed within a week of receiving paperwork Step Seven: Review HS Based Roster Unofficial course roster of approved students by end of May for fall/spring term If supporting documentation is not received by May 1, there is no guarantee we can send a roster by the end of May

19 Orientation & Advisement The law has not changed Each student must see a YSU Academic Advisor New vs. Returning Students Dates: Campus May 5 (summer) August 9, 12 High School June 21 July 12, 20, 21 August 29, 30

20 Orientation & Advisement Campus Based Students Returning students will schedule with Advisor based on how many hours they have New campus based students (even if they took high school based classes previously) will attend Advisement/Orientation on May 5 for summer or August 9 or 12 for fall and/or spring

21 Orientation & Advisement High School Based Students New Students Same program as this past year Will be notified by acceptance letter Returning Students Still need to attend one of the summer dates, but their agenda will be different Will be notified by e-mail or text
