4. How do we Amend the Constitution? Amendment proposed in both houses of Congress by a 2/3 vote ¾ of the state legislatures ratify the amendment  Power lies exclusively with Congress & the states.

5. Another way to amend…  Approved not by state legislatures, but by special conventions in ¾ of the states.  Only on the 21 st amendment was ratified this way….

6. Fun Facts…  Over 11,000 amendments have been introduced to Congress  33 sent to states for ratification  27 ratified

7. The Bill of Rights  The Bill of rights was a document made to protect the rights of the people from the government.  “The Police”  It was a compromise made so that the states would ratify the constitution  “The Federalist”
