3 What is Wikispaces? Wikispaces.com is a website that allows its users to create wikis. Wikis are like blogs, but unlike most blogs, wikis are maintained and updated by many people around the world.

4 How Do You Make a Wikispace? First go to www.wikispaces.comwww.wikispaces.com To create a Wikispace, fill out your desired username, password, and current email address. *That is the only information you need to give in order to make a Wikispace. Wikispaces are free, unless you want to purchase upgraded versions.

5 Now what? Once you have made your new Wikispace, now you can edit your wiki, pages, etc… Each wikispace has its own http address in which you (and fans of your wiki) have easy access for your new Wikispace. (Wikispaces will ask you for your desired wiki name) For example if your wiki’s name was blog, your http would be http://blog.wikispaces.comhttp://blog.wikispaces.com

6 Features and Basics of Wikispaces Below the name of your wiki, there are the following tabs: New Page Recent Changes Manage Wiki Your Wikispace Page includes the tabs: Page Discussion History Notify Me

7 Creating a New Page Creating a new page is like posting a new article on your blog. To create a new page, click the new page link on the left hand side of the webpage. Type in the name of your page. There is a space to plug in a tab, but it is not necessary to create a page.

8 Creating a New Page (Cont) When you are creating your new page, you type whatever you want to post in the text box. There is an Editor bar above your text box. You can use the Editor to (in order from left to right): Use Bold, Italics, or Underline Change the Color and Size/View of the Font Add Number or Bullet Indentations Add a dividing line Link Text Upload an image, file, table, special letter/character, or plain text

9 Finishing a New Page To publish a new page click save. To save your new page click save draft. To view how your page is going to look click preview. To discard your new page click cancel

10 Discussion The Discussion tab allows you to communicate and interact through posts. To post a message, simply add your title and text. Also under this tab, you can see who else on Wikispaces viewed or posted on your message or sent you a message.

11 History This tab shows when you update your home page, which is like your status. To update your home page and to edit it, go to the Home Tab on the left of the screen under the search bar. Then on the far right there will be a tab that says Edit. Editing your Home Page and your Pages using the same formats as creating a page. Once you update your Home Page, it records it under the History.

12 Notify Me This tab is used to subscribe to RSS feeds for page edits and page notifications. These are like updates so you can follow new edits and notifications on your pages. Manage Wiki Allows you to change your preferences and settings of your Wikispace.

13 Recent Changes This is the link on the left hand side of the webpage. This monitors your recent updates to your Wikispace. At the top of the Recent Changes link once you click on it, allows you to choose what changes you want to show in this link: Pages Messages Files Tags Members

16 Keeping Updated On your Wikispaces Page By clicking the “Notify Me” tab you are able to subscribe to RSS feeds. These can be put into, and sorted in an aggregator.
