Formatting Characters, Chapter 39 Repeating and Copying Formatting You can copy character formatting with a special tool called the Format Painter. If you wish to copy a particular formatting code to several areas of the document, double-click on the format painter before beginning.

Formatting Characters, Chapter 310 Changing Case Select text where case is to be changed. Press Shift/F3 to change the case. You can also select text, – Choose the Format menu – Select Change Case. – A dialog box will open giving you several options.

Formatting Characters, Chapter 311 Highlighting Text You can highlight text to emphasize certain points. Select text to be highlighted. Click the down arrow to the right of the Highlight button to display the color choices. Select the color desired. Move the highlight pointer into the text area.

Formatting Characters, Chapter 312 Highlighting Text (Continued) Use highlighting to mark text for a document others may work on at the same time. It is not meant for printing because the colors may print too dark on your printer. You can use shading, which will be covered in Chapter 5.

Formatting Characters, Chapter 313 Creating A Drop Case Select Drop Cap from the Format menu. Under the Position, click Dropped. – This option makes the paragraph wrap around the letter. – Select Okay. You want to use Page Layout view when working graphic objects such as Drop Case.

Formatting Characters, Chapter 314 Automatic Formatting of Numbers Word has AutoFormat which converts ordinal numbers and fractions into a more readable format. To use the convenience of AutoFormat, position the cursor immediately after a number, and type “st” or “rd.” When working with fractions, Word automatically converts numbers and the slash to a fraction symbol.
