10 Why use Reference Manager? Reference Manager is a personal reference management (bibliographic retrieval) system designed to help you keep track of your references. Over 30 different pre-defined reference types can be chosen from, including journals, books, conference proceedings, and theses. Reference Manager eliminates the need for recording article citations on file cards.

11 You can search hundreds of libraries on the Internet from Reference Manager using a single search interface. Reference Manager can generate bibliographies formatted in virtually any journal style, as well as incorporating the appropriate reference citations into manuscripts. references can be retrieved (using author, keyword, periodical name, year of publication, word or phrase appearing in the title or notes, document type, or any other field).

20 Reference Manager is able to import references from over 50 different databases. It is, therefore, essential to make a note of both the name of the database and of the service you are using before starting this process. Select tagged or labelled text format.For example, in Ovid BIOMED choose BRS/Tagged.

In the “Destination Database” drop-down, select the database TO which you are copying references. To mark the copied references, check the box to “Mark Copied Reference(s)”. or If the reference ID of the reference being copied already exists in the Destination database, a message appears notifying you that a new reference ID will be assigned to this reference.

42 To Generate Your Bibliography

43 It allows you to create bibliographies according to the journal style you choose. Generating Bibliographies from a Reference List Click on the option in the menu. This brings up the “Bibliography Setup” dialogue box, as below.

49 “Cite While You Write” is an add-on to your word processor (e.g. MS Word2000). It allows you to cite references while you are writing your manuscript. To view the “Reference Manager 11” toolbar in MS Word 2000, go to the menu, then, and then select.
