Summarize Main Ideas of each Section Their Safe Arrival at Cape Cod Their Safe Arrival at Cape Cod The Pilgrims arrived safely at Cape Cod located in North America. They arrived during the winter season and noticed foreign people whose culture is different from their own.

Their First Encounter Their First Encounter The pilgrims first encounter with the Native Americans was in the month of November. The Native Americans launch an attack against the European explorers. The Europeans win the first battle, thus making their first encounter with the Native Americans full of solace.

Starving Time By January and February of the following year, many of the pilgrims died of diseases. However, the pilgrims remained unified during this difficult time. Bradford makes mention of seven men who he felt were exemplary examples of true “brethren.”

Indian Relations The pilgrims are approached by two Native Americans, Samoset and Squanto who are able to speak English Fluently. The Native Americans and pilgrims were able to reach a peaceful agreement on how they would conduct and govern themselves.

First Thanksgiving This was a prosperous time for both the pilgrims and Native Americans. The pilgrims were able to establish a community for themselves and were not deprived of food and resources.
