Las Posadas Symbolize the journey made by Joseph and the Virgin Mary

People get together to honor the birth of Jesus.

During “Las Posadas” people carry small candles and they sing “Villancicos” (Carols)

The journey of Mary and Joseph is represented by real people at schools or at the church.

People gather outside of a house singing to ask for shelter. If the shelter is denied they go to the next house.

Once shelter is offered, people enter to see baby Jesus and to celebrate Las posadas.

Once inside the house people pray together and eat lots of food.

In Mexico families set up a Nativity scene in their houses as well as a Christmas Tree.

At the end of the celebration, family and friends hit the Piñata.
