2. Setting The setting throughout the book repeats, for example the book starts at the Salinas River and ends in the Salinas River. They also repeat the setting of the bunkhouse. Also at the beginning of each chapter Steinbeck uses about a page to describe the setting before introducing any character. Throughout the book there are locations and settings, this also shows that the life in 1930’s America was very repetitive and monotonous time and place.

3. Lennie Lennie is one of the main characters and throughout the book he repeats many things including his actions and his quotes, He likes stroking soft things, which he ends up killing, he talks about “the Dream” and “the Rabbits” numerously, everyday he does the same thing wake up, work and sleep, and speak about Rabbits.

4. Ending The ending would be hard to predict it was very surprising, that it would take place in Salinas river (Just like the beginning) and that It would involve George and Lennie (Just like the beginning) and that Lennie would get shot in the back of the head (Just like Candy’s Dog) and he got killed because he got over aggressive with touching a girl (Just like in Weed). This ending will leave you thinking what was the point all of the same just for Lennie to be Executed. And what will happen to George.

5. Overall There are many pieces of repetition in the book to show that in 1930’s America everyday was the same thing over and over again, Sleep, Work, Get paid and Move on, this life is very dull, boring and hard which shows that following the American dream was very hard to achieve and didn’t always work out all of the time. The book took place over a long weekend which show that a dream can be made and broken very easily. And that a 1930’s American life should be there own and not cooperative.
