Who is J.D. Salinger? J.D. Salinger is an American writer, born in New York City the 1st of January 1919. Best known for his novel The Catcher in the Rye (1951), as well as his reclusive nature. This meaning, he didn´t showed himself in public. The last time he gave an interview was in 1980, and his last book (Hapworth 16, 1924) was published in 1965. He wrote this book after having served the American Army in World War II. Salinger died of natural causes on January 27, 2010, at his home in Cornish, New Hampshire, U.S.A.
