2 COFUND gives a great opportunity to independent stakeholders to co-operate and design an original fellowship programme that accommodates both the Marie- Sklodowska-Curie rules as well as their own international invitation policies: -Marie-Sklodowska Curie Actions standards -Delegation of scientific selection and recruitment -Multi-partner project with a single beneficiary (more than a dozen Institutes for Advanced Study in almost half of EU 27) 2 COFUND : A powerful incentive to team-up

4 MUTUALISING GOOD PRACTICES AND EU PRIORITIES : -Open calls for applications -Worldwide communication strategy -Transparent peer-review process -Selection based on excellence and innovation -Simplification and upgrading of the recruitment procedure 4 EURIAS : Aligning the practices with the European Standards

5 A UNIFIED ACCESS TO IAS FELLOWSHIPS… -Worldwide joint communication -Common application process -Common selection process … ATTRACTING A WORLDWIDE AUDIENCE -Sustained flow of 850 applications per year (over 3,500 since the beginning of the programme) for some 40 fellowships per year -250.000 online consultations from 185 countries 5 EURIAS: A single gateway to European IAS to reach the proper scale

6 The COFUND Action supported IAS in their efforts to develop fellows’ skills and capabilities by broadening their research horizons and boosting their academic networks. -Fostering innovation (fixed research cost contribution) -Mentoring scheme for younger fellows -Individual scientific records and academic careers -Long-term scientific relations with leading international scholars 6 EURIAS: A stepping-stone in the fellows’ career paths

7 The COFUND Action furthered the recognition of the Institutes for Advanced Study’s contribution to research excellence and innovation and their impact on the researchers’ careers: -Experiencing unique international and cross- disciplinary learning centers -Promoting dialogue between scholars (between and beyond the Social Sciences and the Humanities) -Promoting international grant applications to unfold the innovation potential 7 COFUND : Nurturing new scientific paradigms to address Societal Challenges
