Gymnastics were developed in ancient Greece 800 BC : Roman Empire, Greece and Persia used gymnastics for military training 18 th century : Germany popularized gymnastics for physical fitness – Friedrich ludwig Jahn created exercises on apparatus.

1873 : Creation of the USGF In 1881, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) was formed 1912 : Creation of the UFGF 1942 : Creation of the FFG 1949 : The first code of points 1980 -1990 : Russian domination

Gymnastics is guided by the code of points. For each apparatus only one attempt per gymnast Each gymnast determines his routines The objective is to finish the routines with a maximum of points No spotter is allowed There is a lot of particular rules by apparatus

Height : 1,35M from floor 25M for the runway The gymnast must perform one vault and two vaults if he’s selected for the final The vault can contain single or multiple turns
