2
AFS 2005:3 Scope Pressure equipment (PED) Simple pressure vessels Equipments acc to AFS 2005:2 Older pressure equipment Exclusion: Special requirements for ESS plant in Lund
3
AFS 2005:3 Classification Class: A, B or C Pressure vessels and piping - according to 9 figures (like PED) Vaccuum vessels, atmospherical storage tanks, boilers and och water heaters - according to 4 tables Governing parameters: - p, T, V, DN, output and product (fluid) group
4
AFS 2005:3 Fluid group 1a explosive extremely flammable very flammable flammable oxidizing very toxic toxic corrosive (R35) carcinogenic (R45, R49) mutagen (R46) toxic for reproduction (R60, R61) thermal oil t > flash point
5
AFS 2005:3 Classification of piping Piping which is smaller and connected to larger main piping shall be classified in the same class as the main piping, up to the first shut-off valve, from connection point to the main piping
6
AFS 2005:3 Figure 2 (gas, fluid group 2a)
7
AFS 2005:3 Figure 7 (gas, fluid group 2a)
8
AFS 2005:3 Vaccuum vessels
9
AFS 2005:3 Storage tanks
10
AFS 2005:3 Terms of use Pressure equipment which must be inspected by an inspection body may only be used if inspections has been performed, and the result was satisfactory Inspection body assess highest / lowest pressure and temperature for each pressure equipment (and the safety circuit) Inspection body assess the peeriod to next internal and external inspection
11
AFS 2005:3 Inspection Installation inspection Periodice inpsection (in-service inspection) - DP and IU Revision inspection
12
AFS 2005:3 Installation inspection Equipment in class A and B Exclusion: - Storage tank without safety equipment - Assembly acc to PED Before Installation inspection: AFS 2005:2 Plant inspection
13
AFS 2005:3 Installation inspection Performed before (or in addition to) first time of operation - Equipment needed for safety exists and works satisfying - The pressure equipment and the system is suitable regarding safety - All risks regarding operation and malfunction have been assessed
14
Operational test (Driftprov) – class A and B Consists of: Functional test of safety equipment System check - Functional test of safety equipment can be performed as self inspection if conditions acc to 36-37 §§ are fulfilled - System check can be performed as continous surveillance acc to AFS 2002:1 if conditions in 15 §, third section, are fulfilled AFS 2005:3 Periodic inspection
15
Equipment in class A Inspection performed in order to assess that no defects or other deviations which could be harmful regarding safety Exclusion: - cryogenic vessels AFS 2005:3 Internal and external inspection (IU)
16
- Visual inspection - Ultrasonic testing or other volumetric NDT-method - Crack testing (MT or PT) - Measure of thickness - Special program for inspection - Observations at continous surveillance shall be considered AFS 2005:3 Internal and external inspection (IU)
17
AFS 2005:3 Revision inspection Pressure equipment in class A and B Perfomed on pressure equipment which: 1. has undergone significant repair or change e.g. Exchange of pressure part, repair of weld, seal welding of crack in pressure part. 2. Is liable to have been damaged e.g. Out of operation without corrosive preventing measures (inert gas filling) 3. Shall be used after a substantial change in working conditions 4. Is stationary and has been moved 5. Shall be used after the expiry date set by the manufacturer
18
Interval - IU Enbart förlängt IU vid normalt intervall för UU Efter 2 st IU med 1 års intervall, eller 1 st IU med > 2 års intervall Ej eldberörd
19
AFS 2005:3 Expiry of latest periodic inspection Inspection shall be performed earliest 6 months before and latest 5 months after due date (FFM) 6 months5 monthsFFM
20
AFS 2005:3 Documentation Inspection body puts on inspection sign Inspection body issues certificate of inspection Inspection body notifies Arbetsmiljöverket if a pressure equipment does not fulfill the requirements
21
1.Functional test of safety equipment during operation 2.Functional test of safety equipment in workshop 3.Internal and external inspection of piping 4.Internal and external inspection of pressure vessel whose shutdown causes extraordinary inconvenience AFS 2005:3 Self inspection
22
AFS 2005:3 Penalty charges ”Pressure equipment which must be inspected by an inspection body may only be used if inspections has been performed, and the result was satisfactory” Natural persons and legal entities other than the Swedish State, which violates the rules, shall pay penalty charges according to Swedish Work Act Pressure equipment, except vessels for air or nitrogen and boiler systems: - Class A: 20 000 SEK(each) - Class B: 10 000 SEK (each) Vessels for air or nitrogen, class A: 10 000 SEK (each)
