4 The idea of the Winter Olympics came from the Nordic Games that were held in Sweden starting in 1901. WWII stopped the Winter Olympics dead in their tracks from 1940 - 1948.

7 The three olympic mascots are Sumi, Miga and Quatchi. Mukmuk is our “electronic” mascot. Quatchi is a sasquatch from the mysterious forest of British Columbia. He is timid or shy. He loves hockey. His dream of hockey is being an world famous goaltender. He loves photography. –My favourite mascot is Quatchi because he likes hockey just like me. I play on a hockey team called the “Nanaimo Blues” major novice. My position is centre and right wing. Quatchi loves traveling and exploring just like me. I hope to visit Mount St. Helen’s one day to see where the volcano erupted. Quatchi’s favaurite food is everthing. His favaurite colour is chill blue.

8 Have you heard about a cyberspace marmot? You should help and support Mukmuk so he can be alive longer. Mukmuk is a electronic mascot which is a #1 cheer leader. He sunbathes on logs and rocks. He loves to eat. Mukmuk lives on Vancouver Island. Marmots are extremely rare and are an endangered species. Mukmuk’s favourite colour is berry orange. He hibernates in winter. He is very friendly to other marmots and animals. He name comes from the Squamish First Nations word, “muckmuck” which means food. He’s an endangered species. There is an online petition to save him. 9 Olympic torch relay The Olympic across Canada.In Olympia with a traditional Ceremony, the olympic flame gets lit by the rays of the sun. You know the olympic flame has a record breaking journey. You know it is in canada write know it is in victoria;bc.it traveled across canada on a private jet to canadait landed in victoria. The olympic flame has 1000 communities,45,000km and 10 provinces.

10 This logo was designed using the Inuit Inukshuk. Inukshuks are stone markers used by the Inuit guide them as travel in the Arctic. The logo Inukshuk is called Ilanaaq which means “friend”. The Inukshuk is a symbol of leadership, cooperation, friendship and the human spirit. Ilanaaq is made up of 5 stones. The blue and green represent the West coast islands, forests and the mountains. The red represents the Canadian maple leaf and the gold stands for brilliant Vancouver sunrises. And the green face represents the smile of the human being.
