I Am Not Ashamed of the Gospel Romans 1:16

I Am Not Ashamed 1. Of the basis of the gospel  Jesus and his cross are the basis of the gospel (Mk. 1:1; Rom. 1:9; 1 Cor. 1:17-21; 2 Cor. 2:12; 9:13; 10:14)  Some are ashamed and have turned to other “saviors”… other “gospels” (2 Cor. 11:4; Gal. 1:6- 9) 2. Of the wisdom of the gospel  The wisdom of the gospel is contrary to man’s way of thinking (1 Cor. 1:21-24; 2:1-5)  Some are ashamed and have turned to man’s wisdom in religious and spiritual matters

I Am Not Ashamed 3. Of the supernatural in the gospel  The gospel stands upon the supernatural resurrection and revelation of Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 15:1-4; Gal. 1:11-12)  Some are ashamed and begin to doubt or abandon the supernatural which leads to modernism 4. Of the oneness of the gospel  The gospel provides unity of provision and practice (Eph. 1:13; 2:16; 3:6; 4:4-6)  Some are ashamed and have found it easier and less restricted to practice “unity in diversity”

I Am Not Ashamed 5. Of the product of the gospel  The gospel makes one a Christian only (Lk. 8:11; Ac. 11:26; Ac. 26:28; 1 Pet. 4:16)  Some are ashamed and have promoted denominationalism, world religions, etc. 6. Of the terms of the gospel  The gospel’s terms are: Hear it, Believe it, Repent, Confess, Be baptized, Live faithfully (Ac. 15:7; Mk. 1:15; 16:15-16; Rom. 10:9,16; 2 Thess. 1:8; 1 Pet. 4:17)  Some are ashamed and have changed the gospel’s terms to eliminate baptism

I Am Not Ashamed 7. Of the power of the gospel  The gospel is powerful to save (Rom. 1:16; 16:25)  Some are ashamed and have turned to entertainment 8. Of the demands of the gospel  The gospel is a part of God’s kingdom which has a Lawgiver and a law (Mt. 4:23; 24:14; Gal. 2:14; Phil. 1:27; 1 Tim. 1:10-11)  Some are ashamed and have abandoned their responsibilities, requirements and rules

I Am Not Ashamed 9. Of the preaching of the gospel  The gospel is to be preached and proclaim still today (Mk. 16:15; 1 Cor. 9:16,23; Eph. 6:15,19; Phil. 2:22; 4:3,15; 1 Thess. 1:5; 2:2,4,8,9; 3:2; 2 Thess. 2:14)  Some are ashamed and have stopped preaching it and laboring for it (full-time work, personal work, etc.) 10. Of the defense of the gospel  The gospel is to be defended and supported at all cost (Gal. 2:5; Phil. 1:5,7,12,16,27; Col. 1:5)  Some are ashamed and will not defend truth

I Am Not Ashamed 11. Of the sufferings of the gospel  The gospel life will bring afflictions (Mk. 8:35; 10:29; 2 Thess. 1:8; Philemon 13)  Some are ashamed and have abandoned the gospel so they don’t have to suffer 12. Of the hope of the gospel  The gospel leads the faithful one to heaven (Col. 1:5, 23)  Some are ashamed and have given up on heaven and have settle for something less

Are You Ashamed?  Ashamed to obey (Mk. 8:38; Lk. 9:26)?  Ashamed to take a stand (2 Tim. 1:8,12,16)?  Ashamed to study (2 Tim. 2:15)?  Ashamed to live as a Christian (1 Pet. 4:6; 1 Jn. 2:28)
