Distance V Displacement DISTANCE: The length of a path between two points DISPLACEMENT: Direction from a starting point and the length of a straight line from the starting point to the ending point.

What is distance, displacement?

5
A.Add the magnitudes of two displacement vectors that have the same direction. B.Two displacement vectors with opposite directions are subtracted from each other. Combining Displacements

#6, 11.2 Speed and Velocity V = Total Distance/Total Time V = (1.5 km + 0.5 km) / (25 min + 5 min) V = 2 km / 30 min V = 2 km /.5 h V= 4 km/h
8
Average Speed # 11 (130) Average Speed = Total Distance / Total Time A: 200 / 4 = 50 m/s B: 100 / 10 = 10 m/s
9
Velocity Velocity change may be the result of a change in speed, direction, or both. If a boat is moving at a constant speed and changes direction, although the speed has not changed the velocity has changed because it changed direction.
10
Acceleration 5, 131: Each second an object is in a free fall, its velocity increases by 9.8 m/s 4 X 9.8 = 39.2 m/s
11
Acceleration Acceleration = Change in Velocity (vf-vi) / Total Time (t) 10 (132) 4 – 1 / 3 = 1 m/s
12
Acceleration 15 (132) Acceleration = (vf –vi) / t (0 m/s – 5 m/s) / 10 s -5 / 10 = -0.5 m/s
