3 Act I - Background Prior to scene ii, Flavius and Marullus have chastised commoners for their celebration of Caesar’s return to Rome as a victor.

4 Act I, scene ii Scene ii begins in the streets of Rome on the Feast of the Lupercal which traditionally means there will be men in loincloths racing one another and whipping one another. A trumpet sounds. CAESAR enters, followed by ANTONY, dressed formally for a foot race, then CALPHURNIA, PORTIA, DECIUS, CICERO, BRUTUS, CASSIUS, and CASCA. A great crowd follows, among them a SOOTHSAYER

5 Act I, scene iii Thunder and lightning. CASCA and CICERO enter.

6 Act I Packet Post reading questions “Experts” of the Acts to the front of the room.

7 Ethos, Pathos, Logos PowerPoint Take out a sheet of notebook paper for notes. You’ll staple these to the back of your Act I packet.

8 Homework ● Complete the pre reading and post reading questions in the Act I packet, due 1/27
