YCDSB MULTI-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN: REFINING AND PRIORITIZING STRATEGIC GOALS YCDSB Vision Statement Our students will become creative and critical thinkers who integrate Catholic Values into their daily lives, as socially responsible global citizens. Criteria for Strategic Goals: Advances YCDSB’s Vision for student outcomes Reflects coherence with components of the MYSP Can be aligned with student outcomes Defines supporting initiatives & describe activities to achieve each goal Challenging but achievable; inspirational; innovative Can be operationalized through short term initiatives Requires investment of time, resources (human & physical) and/or finances Are do-able within Board’s allocation of time, resources (human & physical) and finances Are high leverage: delivers high value for expenditure of time, staff, resources and finances Key progress indicators can be identified; regular monitoring against baseline should occur at key intervals throughout the year Goals and supporting initiatives can be clearly understood by stakeholders Values Catholicity, Excellence, Equity, Fiscal Responsibility, Inclusion, Integrity, Respect Mission Guided by Gospel Values and Catholic Virtues, in partnership with home and Church, we educate and inspire all students to reach their full potential in a safe and caring environment.

MULTI-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN: THE CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT Continuous Improvement of Student Achievement Strategic Goals: Our vision for student outcomes is supported by … Supporting Initiatives: Learning opportunities that develop critical thinking, inspire creativity, foster innovation and promote well-being through: a)21 Century Learning opportunities b)Well-Being initiatives c)Programs & Pathways to Success 21 st Century Teaching and Learning - Build the capacity of schools’ 21C Teams and all teachers to apply technology-enabled pedagogies in pursuit of the 6Cs that constitute 21 st century competencies and skills. Blended Learning - Expand the use of Desire2Learn (D2L) in support of “blended learning” approaches to instruction and assessment. Instructional Excellence: Numeracy - Extend traditional learning by including oral communication of mathematical thinking, exploration in virtual environments, and demonstration of understanding, fluency and problem solving. Instructional Excellence: Literacy - Provide opportunities for students to access, analyze, synthesize, create and share information using a variety of sources, media and technologies. Programs & Pathways to Success - Provide students with access to innovative programs enabling students to discover and develop their God-given gifts and make successful transitions to post-secondary destinations. YCDSB Mental Health Strategy – Improve mental health and academic outcomes for all students by: building resiliency and social emotional learning skills; reducing stigma of mental health and addiction; supporting early identification and intervention; building pathways to care; closing critical service gaps; and, providing access to high quality services for our students. Ensuring Equity - Apply a variety of resources to identify criteria, monitor progress and differentiate support for individuals or groups of students with similar challenges. Safe and Accepting Schools - Provide a variety of programs to raise awareness of the meaning of respect and compassion; celebrate and affirm actions that reflect Gospel values, and provide supports for students when challenges arise. Safe and Accessible Environments - Apply all Board policies, protocols and procedures to ensure safe environments (e.g., accessibility audits, long-term facilities renewal plan), and raise students’ awareness by engaging in emergency preparedness practices.

MULTI-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN: THE EFFECTIVE USE OF OUR RESOURCES Effective Use of Our Resources Strategic Goals: Our vision for student outcomes is supported by… Supporting Initiatives: Maximizing the return on investment in our people, processes and technology through: a) Evidence-based decision making b) 21Century Learning Environments c) Audit and/or Department Operational Reviews Cross-departmental resource allocation analysis and process assessment to ensure the efficient & cost effective delivery of services Development of implementation plans related to audit and/or department operational reviews Implementation of a centralized data analytical and reporting solution Establishment of a budget steering committee: Budget Policy Development with focus on Strategic Commitment Alignment Implementation of the Long-Term Accommodation Plan (LTAP): To right size facilities inventory To support allocation of resources To enhance existing facilities to enable 21 st Century learning & innovative program development Implementation of a long-term, cross-departmental facilities renewal plan focused on safe, healthy working & learning environments

Communicating & engaging our families, staff and stakeholders through: a) Inclusive & Accessible tools b) Promoting initiatives, successes and strengths 2. Seeking and supporting partnerships locally and globally Board Logo redesign Board and School Website redesign Implement a “Communication App” offering stakeholders, namely, staff, parents and students timely and effective communication Establish a “Communications Committee” to examine and implement communication tools that would best serve staff, students and parents in the 21 st Century Extend communication and learning opportunities to engage and connect communities Seek out community engagement opportunities and partnerships that are innovative, enhance learning and/or well-being & align with our policies and core values Investigate and expand SEPYR (Settlement Education Partners in York Region) Program in Welcome Centres Investigate and implement global partnerships to recruit international students
