4 Parts of the Writing Process Prewrite Time to Think about your Writing What are you going to write about? Make a list of things you want to write about and things you know about What type of story are you going to write? Funny Scary Personal Narrative, etc. My list –Animals –My students –My family –Art –Traveling –Joshua –Poetry

5 Parts of the Writing Process Drafting –Time to Write it Down Once upon a time… There lived a cat named Jack…. He had a bushy, white-tipped tail…

6 I began writing my story… I sat on my sofa and typed my thoughts onto my computer I only typed the beginning of my story then I put everything away. I left it alone for about 2 weeks After about 2 weeks I went back to my story and reread it I then added more to my story I did this process for another couple of months before I had my rough draft written of my story, In Jack’s Mind

7 Parts of the Writing Process Revising –Time to Improve my writing Remember the Revising and Editing parts of the Writing Process are Ongoing –(You revise then edit, then revise and edit again) –It keeps going until you publish you’re satisfied with your writing

8 Parts of the Writing Process Editing –Time to Make Things Correct

9 Revising and Editing HAPPENS again and again and again… Get people you know to help you with these ongoing steps. I have to remember it’s okay to cry during these steps!

11 Revising and Editing are ongoing throughout the whole writing process until the writing is PUBLISHED. Draft Revise and Edit Publish I had to make sure my text matches my AUDIENCE! Prewrite

12 Parts of the Writing Process Publishing –Time to Share my Writing Remember… Publishing means that your writing and illustrations are complete! These two components also work together!
