LAB ON A CHIP GROUP R Josh Epperson, Brooke Ott, Luisa Parish, and Ben Weisman
2
BRAINSTORMING ● Generic Chip Design Issues ● Backflow, Air Bubbles ● Shape of Staging Wells ● Circlular vs. Elliptical ● Shape of Channels Straight vs. Curved ● Number and Location of Check Valves ● 2 Check Valve System
3
FEATURES OF FIRST CHIP ● 4 Staging Wells o 2 circular o 2 elliptical ● Number of Check Valves o 2 versus 1 ● Straight Channels
4
RESULTS AND OBSERVATIONS OF FIRST CHIP DESIGN ● Circular staging more effective and simplistic ● Multiple check valves ineffective ● No impact on backflow Standard deviation of 8.60
5
FIRST CHIP CALIBRATION CURVES
6
FEATURES OF SECOND CHIP Circular Staging Wells Channels meet before going to Detection Well
7
RESULTS OF SECOND CHIP More consistent results Easier injection into chip Less air bubbles in the detection well Standard deviation of 4.19
8
SECOND CHIP CALIBRATION CURVES
9
CONCLUSION Second chip preferred More accurate and simple Equation for ppm used was 0.153x 2 - 3.85x+36.976. Average deviation was 10.67% for all samples.
