2. Advice to e-Learners Keep an open mind. This is a different type of learning! Take initiative, be self-motivated; much of what you learn is outside of class. The instructor is your facilitator who guides you through the learning, but you do it on your own. Manage your time well. Try to get beyond the fact that you can’t see facial expression in the synchronous classes; it takes some getting used to and could cause some insecurity or difficulty participating Don’t text chat about unrelated things while synchronous class is being conducted. It’s like sitting in the back of the room talking while the instructor is lecturing. A few comments are OK, but too many can be distracting.

3. I am in awe of the fact that universities as respected as MIT are sharing their courses online for FREE! This is thanks to the OpenCourseWare Consortium. Universities are offering knowledge for the sake of knowledge. What an innovative and creative use of the Internet! My unique example is on the next slide.
