Introduce elements for ALL the senses! Try some samples of fabrics from around the world! Easy to drape and hang from drop ceilings

Spice up your room with scented (unlit) candles, oils and potpourri!

Get the staff and the customers in the mood! Choose a weekly destination and start each day with some music from that spot!

Are some of your staff reluctant to get into the Summer Mood? Go to stores like Trader Joe’s or World Market and bring a few exotic taste treats for staff and customers to sample at the reference desk. Nothing motivates teamwork better than snacks!

Use just one style or swap them out each week depending on your staff and budget. Try and have at least one time a week that you gather together in your ‘exotic locale’ for a book talk, or to have a staff member share their heritage or culture. Make sure to feature some of the books and materials you carry in your library. Your library is your market square, where all roads converge…
