4  The right to copy work  The original owner of work has to give permission of what can be copied.  The creator has exclusive rights to the work.

5  Fair use permits some copying without permission.  You can use more work if it is for educational purposes.  Fair use is more lenient than copyright because you can get away with using information without permission at times.

6  Plagiarism is taking someone’s work and using it as it is yours.  Plagiarism is not citing sources for people who created the work.  You can avoid it by citing the source.  Teachers can use turnitin.com to see if their students plagiarized.

7  In 2003 identity theft was the number 2 most reported crime.  Identity theft is when someone uses another persons personal information.  Reputation management is monitoring the reputation of someone or something.  Passwords can be created to keep children off of certain websites.  Cyberbullying and stalking is harming others through the internet.

8  All of these things can be monitored by having passwords set and websites blocked that should not be allowed.

9  Antivirus software should be installed to prevent viruses.  Worms, viruses, Trojan horses, and phishing are all types of viruses that can mess up your computer.  These things can be prevented by being aware of what is downloaded on your computer and what you click on.  Be careful what you download on your computer!
