Long Hours Inside a factory, that workers worked long hours. Workers in the industrial revolution, battled long hours.

Boring, Repetitive Tasks
Factory, that had women sewing. In the industrial revolution, there were a lot of jobs with repetitive, boring tasks.

Low Wages A chart of the Pay for certain ages. During the industrial revolution, workers were payed low wages.

Dangerous Conditions Factory workers, working with high heat. During the industrial revolution, factories were dangerous.

Child Labor Two very young children working in a factory. During the time of the industrial Revolution, Child Labor was a huge problem.

Unemployment Men stand in line, waiting for a job position to open up in a factory. During the industrial revolution, many people were jobless, and had to stand and wait outside of a factory, to try and get a job.

Periodic Unemployment
Factory workers, striking outside of a factory. There was periodic unemployment during the industrial revolution.

Unpleasant Living Conditions
Small, cramped apartment building. During industrial revolution, workers didn’t have good living conditions.

Terrible Factory Conditions
Women standing, in a factory, working. Factories during the industrial revolution, had terrible conditions. Workers had to stand, environment was crowded, it was dirty.

Factory Factories during the industrial revolution. During the industrial revolution, there were factories with unpleasant environments, terrible working conditions, and that produced an enormous amount of pollution.

Current factory conditions
Todays, car manufacturing factory. Today, the factories are clean, non-crowded, and have good working conditions.

Current Tasks Factory, that build cars. Today, factories have fun jobs, that contain many different aspects of work, not just one boring task.

Current Wages Minimum wage, allows the workers to know that they can’t be payed unfairly, the money can only go up. Workers during the industrial revolution were payed 10 cent a day.

Current Safety Precautions
Factory worker, wearing a hardhat, glasses, and a protective suit. During industrial revolution, conditions were dangerous.

Current employment Picture of a work injury claim form. When a worker is injured, and can’t work, their job is held, and they are payed when they are out of work.

Current Housing Picture of a big neighborhood. With todays wage laws, factory workers can afford good living conditions.

Current Factory Factories today, have cleaned up, more cost efficient, better conditions. They also produce way less pollution, than factories during the industrial revolution created.

Strike Large group of people striking. Striking today, isn’t as it was back during the industrial revolution. People today, don’t strike for survival, or for their job, but for other community activities.
