COMET at J-PARC – Staging approach – Phase I Beam background study and achieve intermediate sensitivity of 10 -14 8GeV - 3.2kW, ~3 weeks DAQ – Phase II 8GeV - 56kW, 1 year DAQ to achieve the COMET final goal of 10 -16 sensitivity Phase I Phase II μ e q q μ e q q

France-Japan collaboration in COMET COMET Phase I – Construction of the muon transport solenoid down to the 1 st 90 degree bend – 8GeV, 3.2kW power to achieve 10 -14 sensitivity in a few weeks running CDC and Triggering counter surrounding a muon stopping target – Mu-e conversion signal identified with an energetic electron of 105MeV emitted from a muonic atom with delayed timing LPNHE muon group participation was approved by the COMET collaboration in 2012 Dec. – Abundant experience in developing tracking software – Muon beam measurement (or target) using a silicon detector JSPS grant approval for detector construction

France-Japan collaboration in g-2/EDM measurements The base of research program has been developed under SAKURA program (MAEE-JSPS). We propose to strengthen the collaboration in following areas : – Software framework – Reconstruction software – Simulation software and Computing resource with CC-IN2P3 – Detector characterization including beam tests of silicon-strip vanes at DESY/J-PARC mm ・ signal e+ (p>200MeV/c) ・ BG e+ (p<200MeV/c)
