3 1. HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE HARDWARE:
DEFINITIONS: HARDWARE: Hardware is the physical parts or components of a computer, such as the monitor, mouse, keyboard, computer data storage, hard disk drive (HDD), graphic cards, sound cards, memory, motherboard, and so on, all of which are physical objects that are tangible.

5 1. HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE SOFTWARE:
Software is any set of instructions and programs that a computer needs to run and to process data correctly. Computer software is non-tangible, contrasted with computer hardware Examples: Windows, Linux, Word, Internet Explorer, etc.

6 SOFTWARE (IN PLAIN ENGLISH)

7 Activities: 1.- Search for information about the difference between BITS, BYTES and other units of measure for digital information 2.- Create a table like the one below classifying the following components in uotput/input components: Monitor, mouse, keyboard, hard disk drive (HDD), graphic cards, sound cards, memory(ROM & RAM), motherboard, scanner, camera, printer, speakers, CD-DVD player/recorder and USB memory

8 COMPONENT INPUT-OUTPUT DESCRIPTION IMAGE TRASLATION 3.-We use different ports in order to connect the internal components of a computer to the peripheral devices. Find the most common use of : PS/2, HDMI, USB, VGA, SATA, FireWire, Network and Audio.
