5.  The Giver by Louis Lowery  Devil’s Arithmetic by Jane Yolen  Lord of the Flies by William Golding  SURF Requirements: Outside Reading ALL Year Long ▪At your child’s reading level. ▪At least 300 pages per nine-week period. ▪Students MUST have a book with them in class every day.

6. MCC Language Arts Dept Guidelines No extra credit. Ever. No “second chances” on assignments. If absent, student is responsible for makeup work (one day per day absent). An assignment due on a day the student is absent must be turned in upon return. Daily work is not accepted late.

7.  Parents, please check your student’s planner to ensure that they are using is properly. This is a life skill that will help them in their future.  Students:  Come to class prepared (planner, binder, surf book, writing utensil)  Complete and turn in ALL work on time  Participate in class  Demonstrate excellent behavior and organization

8.  Advisory  Any day – ask for a pass.  Before school  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (until basketball season).  After school  It is available and ever-changing; therefore, there is an updated weekly schedule outside my classroom.
