2. STEP ONE Prepare resume …. Visit icc.ucdavis.edu for template Review resume and compare with others to see what you are missing or need to remove

3. STEP TWO Research companies who you will approach specifically. 1.What each company does 2.Company values and/or mission statement 3.Location of headquarters and/or local branch 4.Two current projects and one previous project completed by the company 5.Tune your resume to reflect what the company is looking for. ( you can print different resumes for each company) All info can be found on the company’s website

4. STEP THREE Prepare 1 – 2 minute response incase you are interviewed on the spot. It should contain: 1.Who you are 2.Your goals and interests 3.One fact that you feel gives you an edge but also pertains to the company. e.g you are doing research in a specific topic/area, past experiences e.t.c.

5. STEP FOUR Prepare outfit: 1.Formal attire is a MUST!!!!! 2.Little to No cologne ( in case they have allergies) 3.Proper grooming (you’d be surprise what some people don’t do!!) You have to be “Fresh” 4.GUYS: Dress shirt, tie, slacks, dress shoes, Blazer or formal sweater or (if you want to) a suit 5.GIRLS: Monica will explain

6. STEP FIVE Mechanics must also be on point: 1.Firm hand shakes 2.Eye contact 3.Be personable ( being timid or shy will never get you a job position) 4.SELL YOURSELF!!!!!!

7. HAVE FUN!!!!!! There are many companies in attendance so if you don’t think you hit it off with one company, move on to the next one. Hint: try talking to some companies you are not really interested in as practice and a nerve calmer before you get to your main companies. ALSO …. Collect business cards as a means of contacting them later and writing a thank you letter or request …. Just network.

8. ONE MORE THING If you see Pam Swartwood ( or you can ask for her) tell her your in BEA and she will hook you up. She knows every company in the career fair and most of the HR Managers as well. She can possibly get you multiple interviews on top of what you already have. We also have ASUCD Senator Tatiana Bush in attendance.
