The Butterfly’s Life:

Stage One-Little Egg Butterfly eggs are usually round or oval. Eggs can be found on leaves of plants.

Stage Two: Larva or Caterpillar Caterpillars hatch from the egg stage. Once hatched caterpillars grow larger by eating leaves and plants. Caterpillars come in all shapes, sizes, and colors depending on the type of butterfly.

Stage Three: Pupa, Cocoon, or Chrysalis Once the caterpillar has eaten enough plants and leaves it builds a chrysalis on a branch or leaf. While in the chrysalis the caterpillar transforms into a butterfly

Stage Four: Butterfly Once the Pupa has finished growing it will break from the chrysalis. Once the butterfly is completely removed from the chrysalis it moves its wings and learns to fly.
