2. Stage 1 - Egg The butterfly life cycle begins as an egg. The egg is usually found on the back of a leaf.

3. Stage 2 – Larva The larva stage is the second stage of the life of a butterfly. During this stage the butterfly has hatched from its egg and it is a caterpillar. The caterpillar eats a lot during this stage.

4. Stage 3 - Pupa During this stage the caterpillar form a pupa. It stays in the chrysalis until it is ready to come out.

5. Stage 4 - Adult During this stage the butterfly comes out of the pupa and is an adult. It has become a beautiful butterfly.
