5 Morocco (1) Geography: Geography: o Morocco is located in the north-west of Africa; o It enjoys having the unique privilege of two sea sides, (about 3,500 km of coastline) on the Atlantic Ocean (to the West) and on the Mediterranean sea (to the North). Population: Population: 32.7 million (2006 estimate) inhabitants, of which 37% are younger than 15, and 56% are between 15 and 60. 9 Export Consortia in Morocco To enable the SMEs to enhance their export competitiveness and cope with major changes in the global market, the Ministry of Foreign Trade has initiated a program for the creation of export consortia in Morocco since 2003, in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and funding of the Italian Government.

10 Export Consortia in Morocco The objective of this program is to provide the technical assistance of UNIDO experts to SMEs wishing to form a consortium particularly as regards the determination of common goals, the foundations of the constitution of the grouping, the development status and business plan to facilitate market access for products and services of its members.

11 Export Consortia in Morocco What support for consortia? Help to create the support fund can achieve 50% of the capital with a maximum of 100,000 MAD (USD 12,500). Support for the promotion is allocated to the quota from 50 to 75% of the total. The ceiling is MAD 200,000 (USD 25,000). The decision to grant aid under the Management Committee, composed of the Ministry of Foreign Trade (ERM), the ASMEX of Morocco and the Export ANPME.
