3 Tree Management Working Party 2. Tree Planting Projects for 2012 LGA Snapshot: Approx 1,800 native trees and shrubs were planted in various parks, gardens and bushland areas in the past 12 months Approx 110 street trees were planted during last winter.This year’s winter street tree planting program is about to commence. Number of DA’s lodged from January 2012 Tree pruning on private property= 85 Tree removal on private property= 275

4 Tree Management Working Party 2. Tree Planting Projects for 2012 Projects this year: Tree Planting at Hurstville Golf Course – fairway and fringes –Council is in the process of planting 1200 mixed native and indigenous trees and Shrubs –screen planting between to 13 th and 15 th fairway –beautification along fire trail area between houses (Ballantyne Rd) and Golf Course –area adjacent to fire trail between Lime Kiln Bay and Golf Course and also the area below 12 th Tee. Tree Planting for National Tree Day - 29 th July 2012 –Council will be holding a tree/shrub planting event At Evatt Park,Lugarno to coincide with National Tree Day 2012 –It is proposed to plant approx 1,000 native trees and shrubs in a specified area behind Webbs Dam at Evatt Park

Tree Planting Projects for 2012 Projects this year: Tree Giveaway Day – Sunday 29 th July 2012 –Council will be hosting the annual Tree Giveaway at Timothy Street Reserve, Hurstville this year –It is anticipated that over 2000 indigenous plants for will distributed at this event

6 Tree Management Working Party 3. Review of PIN Statistics Number of PIN issued since July 2011 = 5 4 of these PINS’s were issued to residential properties for pruning or removal without consent ($1,500 each) 1 PIN issued to a Contractor for the value of $3,000 for pruning without consent

7 Tree Management Working Party 4. Proposed minor amendment to HCC Tree Preservation Order Increased number of dead trees in the LGA Council Officers propose to amend the Tree Preservation Order to include a provision for following: –Notification of removal of dead trees within private properties –Council to request additional information if required –If suspicious, Council to commission relevant testing (including tissue analysis) on the subject trees
