Non-linguistic Representations ! By: Jaymes A.

Why just talk about it?!?! Of course talking about a topic can ensure a teacher that a student understands the material. The question is, does it really show what the student is thinking or how they perceive certain topics? Hmm… (Clearing throat) ^_^ -It can…, however, having the students demonstrate topics in different ways and teaching with multiple representations can be very beneficial and fun!

What we can do as Teachers!!! How can we incorporate this in our classrooms to help our kids center their ideas? 1.Make students use graphic organizers to help them organize thoughts. 2.OoOo!!! Make students draw pictures. (Sound familiar… CI-interview) 3.Make this moveable… Wiggle, Wobble, and DANCE it! 4.More ways you say?? Of course! Be creative.

Does this even really work??? ( or ) Psychologists say that the effects do work and can really help our students. YAY! “The creation of non-linguistic representations stimulates and increases activity in the brain.” Did we do this in K and L??? -Silly, Of course we did! We did… 1.Concept maps 2.Frayer models 3.Various group activities…“The grandfather clock project.” 4.Did I mention the CI- Interview… (Clear throat!)
