Location 11.77 surveyed acres - Morehead area, wooded, 5 minutes from I-64 and on Logan Hollow Road just behind the new building site for the new Wal-Mart Super Center. Property is wooded, has house site already made.

Building Materials List a few building materials that you feel make this design outstanding. Cinder Block Walls Metal Roof Green Materials, Metal roof, etc. What makes it unique? Cinderblock walls, metal roof, geothermal HVAC unit, Energy Star appliances Give it justification of WHY you used it in the design These materials were used in order to make the dwelling as ‘GREEN’ as possible

Floor Plan Layout Justify why you chose what you chose in the design for bedrooms, common areas, etc. I chose this design with the thought of housing 47 college students on campus in mind, with a smaller area for sleeping, a commons area, showers located on each end of the building and a laundry room on each end.

Conclusion What is your conclusion for this project? This was a very time-consuming project. It was definitely not easy, but interesting to work on figuring out a way to house 47 people in 4500 sq. ft. while "going green." Although my husband has worked construction and could help with the timeline and schedule, it was difficult finding costs for different things. The National Construction Estimator (provided from the link above) was very helpful in finding different construction/item costs as well as labor estimates. The beginning budget was 1.5 million dollars, and the total cost for this project was approximately $489,185.45, which is about a third of the total budget. I think that's a good thing, because it's not only saving money, but being GREEN as well!
