2 Objectives  Rewrite a linear equation in one variable as f(x)=g(x).  Find and interpret the point of intersection.  Solve a linear equation in one variable by writing it as the functional equality f(x)=g(x).

4 Solving a linear equation graphically 1. Let each side of the equation represent a function of x. 2. Graph the two equations on a single graph. 3. Find the point of intersection. 2x-6=0 f(x)= 2x-6 g(x)=0

5 Try this one -3x+6=0

6 A little harder… 2x-6 = -3x+4
