With the verb iubet, someone orders someone to do something. In Latin, both the person who is ordered and what they’re ordered to do is in the accusative case. Ancillas iubet cistas in raedā ponere. He orders the slave women to place the chests in the carriage. The slave women are the people being ordered and they are being ordered to place the chests. Therefore, slave women and chests are both accusative.

This accusative and infinitive construction is also found with the verb doceo. In other words, you teach someone to do something. The someone and something are in the accusative. Aurelia Corneliam villam curare docet. Aurelia teaches Cornelia to take care of the farmhouse.
