2. Biography  Yanni (born Yiannis Hrysomallis ), on November 14, 1954. Began to play piano at age 8. He played for hours trying to re-create the music he'd heard on the radio or at the movies. And developed his own system of musical notation, something he still uses.  In 1972, at the age 18, he left his homeland and moved to United States.  In 1976 Yanni graduated from the University of Minnesota with B.A. in psychology but decided to give music 100% of his effort.
