Detox Foot Pads  Define- Adhesive foot pads or patches that manufacturers claim can dramatically improve health when place on feet during sleep.  No known studies on the foot pads, however it is frequently practiced in Asian Countries  May include distilled bamboo vinegar that allegedly pulls toxins from the body. This has yet to be proven

What does it do?  Claims to be the natural way to assist body in removal of heavy metals, metabolic waste, toxins and other chemicals  Detox patch also contains tourmaline  Tourmaline is a mineral which generates negative ions  Captures toxins your body eliminates through the outer layer of the skin

5. More Claims  Release toxins  Relax muscles and tendons  Strengthens the kidney  Relieves fatigue throughout day and promotes a great nights sleep  Beautifies foot and clears any foot odor  Release aches and pains  Relieve stress

6. Ingredients  Bamboo Vinegar, chitosan, dextrin, dokudami, loquat leaf, tourmaline, vegetable fiber, vitamin C, wood vinegar.  The product claims that these ingredients provide energy, pull out negative ions, improve immune system and improve metabolism

Uses  Used over night, and while the color of the patch will change, it signifies that it is working and that the toxins are being absorbed into the pad.  The dirtier the pad, the more toxins that have been absorbed  Use detox patch until it gets lighter and lighter  Can be used all over body including back, knees and elbows

8. Information from NPR  A lab in California tested if there was difference between used and unused pads  Fresh detox pad = control group  Experiment:  Cut up used and unused pads. Place them in separate test tubes  Added nitric acid to the test tube  Nitric acid reacts with metals  Results:  Very little metals in the used pad, no significant difference

9. NPR (Cont.)  Scientist statement- (Jim Seward)- : Our bodies eliminate metals through kidneys and intestinal tract, NATURALLY. He says that drawing toxins from the skin is IMPLAUSIBLE. Metabolic waste is usually disposed through urine and feces, so there’s no need to accelerate the process!!!  Chemist predict that there’s an ingredient that makes the pad turn that color. They tested with a steaming pot of water and it turned completely black

10. 20/20 ABC News  Performed similar testing as NPR.  Tested for arsenic, mercury, 23 solvents, benzene, and ethyl benzenes  Result: They found NOTHING
