The rule Vorm van TO BE + voltooid deelwoord. Present simple: am/is/are + voltooid deelwoord. Past simple: was/were +voltooid deelwoord Voorbeeld: - A cake is made (by me).(present simple) - A cake was made (by me).(past simple)

From active to passive In an active sentence the subject PERFORMS the action. In a passive sentence the subject UNDEROES it. Voorbeeld: Ze bouwen deze schepen in Japan They BUILD these ships in Japan. Deze schepen worden in Japan gebouwd. These ships ARE BUILT in Japan.

Exercises The letter/send = The letter is sent 1. The car/wash 2. The books/read 3. The shop/close 1. The car is washed The books are read The shop is closed

Exercise 2 My father sends a letter. – A letter is sent (by my father) 1. I washes the dishes. The dishes are washed (by me) 2. He opens the door. The door is opened (by him) 3. She studies the books The books are studied (by her)
