Why Smart Boards The interactive electronic whiteboard is great for demonstrations. The board can accommodate different learning styles. Tactile learners can benefit from touching and marking at the board, audio learners can have the class discussion, visual learners can see what is taking place as it develops at the board. Distance learning is an excellent setting for interactive whiteboard use. One-computer classrooms can maximize the use of limited computer access by using the whiteboard. The boards are clean and attractive tools. There is no messy chalk dust or other by-product, which can limit use. The board is great for lessons where the students need printed copies of the assignments. It can interface well with other peripherals. Kids love it!

Why Not Hard to write. Depending on your alignment with the board my cause difficulty while trying to write. You still have to move back and forth from the keyboard to the screen. We could start up our web browser by touching the SMART board, but when it came time to enter in the website address, we had to go back to the desk to type in the URL. Only 1 person at a time can use the SMART Board. With a regular chalkboard or white board, you can have multiple people writing at the same time. Expensive. Retail cost of a 77″ (195.6cm) front-projection SMART Board Interactive whiteboard is $1399. The screen image and the Smart Board touch screen may get knocked out of alignment. You may want to upgrade to a wireless connection ($199 USD) to eliminate the cables and the tripping hazards in the classroom. Occasionally the Smart Board may stop working.

Position Yes, I believe Smart boards are excellent tools to engage students in learning. The Smart board is a essential tool for an effective teacher. It will allow the teacher to be better organized and make preparation for academic time less time consuming.

Reasons Smart Boards are interactive devices combining the simplicity of a whiteboard with the power of a computer. Smart Boards has a screen that is controlled by touch is a great way to stimulate any learning environment. No matter the subject Smart Boards are useful. Notes are written in digital ink directly over background images, such as documents, images or websites, and can be converted to text. These notes, including the background, are saved to a file, creating great review material for students of any discipline.

Reasons Cont: The Smart Board includes a host of other features. Athletic departments, film classes and others will appreciate the ability to write over moving video and save their notes. A recording function captures all activity on the interactive whiteboard, with an audio track, into an AVI file to keep track of material covered in lectures. Other presentation friendly functions include a Gallery full of clip art, an array of highlighting tools, page templates and more, all providing flexible ways for instructors to prepare and deliver content.
