3 Methodology Researched available resources Developed and distributed questionnaire Created Access form for data entry Imported to Excel spreadsheet for data manipulation Implemented quality control procedures

4 Findings and Conclusions Who Is The Library Professional? –Of the 210 respondents : 85% were female Those participating were from all areas of Victoria Average time spent in industry was 12.1 years Average time spent in current position was 4.5 years The majority have a qualification in Librarianship 69% work in the field of information

5 Findings and Conclusions Infonet Use and Usability Evaluation –Of the 210 respondents: 110 were aware of the Infonet site Became aware of the Infonet through a number of sources Primarily used for browsing prior to the questionnaire Information relevancy, in relation to searches conducted, was high

6 Findings and Conclusions Infonet Use and Usability Evaluation –Rating the Infonet Web site

7 Findings and Conclusions Infonet Content and Resources –Of the 198 who responded to questions 14-16: 96% found information relevant to the Library Professional Information Relevancy related to: –conferences, library journals, catalogues, employment, courses education and training, organisations, minutes and reports of meetings and program material 123 respondents indicated the Infonet provided resources related to their geographic location

9 Findings and Conclusions Victoria’s Virtual Library Use and Usability –Of the 210 respondents: 161 were aware of the VVL 118 had prior use of the VVL 150 rated the components of the VVL web site

10 Recommendations Recommendations Included: –Identify target users and establish their specific needs and provide content and network support accordingly –Promote the VVL as a major gateway for Library Professionals –Promote the use of networks to aid in the distribution of the knowledge base and work load –Provide continuity of look, structure and language through out all parts of the VVL and its components
