3  by combining KVL, KCL and Ohm’s Law, the following rules can be derived:  for any number of resistors connected in series R t = R 1 + R 2 + R 3  for any number of resistor connected in parallel 1/R t = 1/R 1 + 1/R 2 +1/R 3
