1 Ball and ramp controlled study

2 Problem How does the release distance affect the bounce distance of a golf ball from bounce 1 to bounce 2?

3 Hypothesis I predict the larger release distance of the golf ball will make the ball bounce further from bounce 1 to bounce 2.

4 variables The controlled variables are the ball , angle of the ramp , and the floor surface. The manipulated variables are the release point and the distance. The dependent variables is the distance from bounce 1 to bounce 2.

5 Materials Carbon, paper , googles, golf ball, graph paper, lab report,
masking tape, meter tape, Scott towels, 16 D nails, 2 PVC piping.

6 procedures 1draw plan/sketch 2 get materials 3put on googles 4construct ramp 5 put nail in 10cm mark 6put down paper towel 7place carbon paper on top of paper towel 8 drop ball

7 Possible explanations
The greater release distance the greater the distance from bounce 1 to bounce 2 because the ball picks up speed and force the greater the release

8 additional questions #1
What happens to the bounce distance as the release distance increases? The bounce distance increases when the release distance increases.

9 Additional questions #2
What is another variable that you would like to manipulate? Write down a problem statement for this new experiment to possibly investigate ? How far would a bouncy ball travel from bounce 1 to bounce 2

10 observations There is a 43 cm distance between bounce 1 and bounce 2 for the 10 cm release. There is a 51 cm distance between bounce 1 and bounce 2 for the 20 cm release. There is a 78 cm distance between bounce 1 and bounce 2 for the 40 cm release. There is a 99 cm distance from bounce 1 to bounce 2 for the 60 cm release There is a 114 cm distance from bounce 1 to bounce 2 for the 80 cm release There is a 112 cm distance from bounce 1 to bounce 2 for the 85 cm release

11 conclusion In conclusion the greater the distance, the greater the distance from bounce 1 to bounce 2. This is because the golf ball picks up speed and force the higher the release. Although for the 85 cm release the distance between bounce 1 to bounce 2 decreased . This may have been because of a variable we were not aware of.
