How does the release distance affect the bounce distance of a golf ball from bounce 1 to bounce 2?
4
I predict that the higher the release distance, the higher farther the distance between bounce 1 and bounce 2

2 PVC pipes 16 D nail Carbon paper Chair Goggles Golf ball Lab report Meter tape Masking tape Scott towels

1. Draw blueprint 2. Put on goggles 3. build ramp 4. lay out paper towels and carbon paper 5. Put nail in lowest socket 6. Drop ball. 7. Remove nail 8. record data 9. repeat, moving the nail up one socket each time.

Controlled Ball, nail, angle of ramp, floor Manipulated Height of drop Dependent Distance between bounces

The first drop travelled 35.5 cm. It made no sound. The carbon paper left a mark as the ball hit it. The second drop mace a slight thud. It traveled 50. cm. the third drop traveled 68 cm and took two tries. The fourth drop traveled 89 cm. My hypothesis was starting to be correct. I think momentum makes the ball go further. The second to last bounce had a minor setback because Jack Did the measurement wrong but we fixed it and it went 119cm. The final bounce went 123cm

The higher the drop distance is, the farther apart the distance is from bounce 1 to bounce 2. I think this is because of momentum. My hypothesis was correct.
