The Super Ball Project
2
QUESTION Does a surface effect the bounce of a super ball?
3
Purpose The purpose of my investigation is to determine if a surface effects the bounce of a super ball. This is important to know because if you play catch and there are two different surfaces between you, might need to know how high it goes to catch the ball.
4
Hypothesis I hypothesize that a super balls bounce will be effected by different surfaces. I believe this because I think the hardness of the surface may make it fly if its hard and a surface that is soft may make it do a little bounce.

Procedure

Materials Super ball Tape measure Side walk Road Recording paper
7
Variables Maniputed: the surface Responing: how high the ball goes Constant: Method of measuring how high the ball goes and the height the ball is dropped from it

Directions 1 Gather materials 2 Go to the sidewalk 3 Hold the ball 1 m above ground 4 Drop the ball 5 Measure how high the ball went. Record. 6 Go to the road 7 Hold the ball 1 m above ground 8 Measure how high the ball went. Record. 9 Repeat 1- 8 four more times

CONCLUSION My hypothesis was correct. Surfaces do effect the bounce of a super ball. The average bounce height of the sidewalk was 60 cm. The average bounce height of the road was 58.42 cm. If I would changed one thing I would change the surfaces because the road is not safe.
